Stress Reduction Kit: How The Air Force Handles Stress
The United States military are probably some of the most stressed out people on the face of the earth and they have had to develop ways of keeping their soldiers calm, cool, and collected in the face of adversity. Each branch of the armed forces has their own stress reduction kit, but the one developed by the Air Force is one of best stress reduction kits available. Everyone could benefit from one of these stress reduction kits and in this article we’ll cover what the Air Force has included.
Air Force personnel that deploy from Randolph Air Force Base in Texas receive their own stress reduction kit. They are issued by the 12th Flying Training Wing Health and Wellness Center. The stress reduction kit is small enough to be used anywhere the Air Force personnel happen to be as the items contained within it can be kept on their person. Whether they are in an airplane, in their tent, or at a briefing the items in the issued stress reduction kit are handy to have around.
In addition to using the items contained in the Air Force’s stress reduction kit to help burn off stress, personnel can also use the items in a physical fitness routine. One of the items in the stress reduction kit is designed to help personnel with no fitness facilities remain in shape using resistance training. The Thera-Band, which looks like a long strand of rubber tubing, can be used by personnel to do military and bench presses, hamstring curls, bicep curls, stretches, and more exercises that would commonly be done in a weight room setting. Because the Thera-Bands are so light and take up little space, they are a great addition to anyone’s stress reduction kit.
The other items included in the Air Force stress reduction kit is a variation of the stress ball, called a ‘twistable’ and a stress management CD. The ‘twistable’ is a wand of material that can be bent, twisted, and squeezed into any shape the user wishes. The compact disk is filled with relaxing music that is designed to soothe the listener and allow them to wind down from a long day. The stress reduction kit also includes a healthy snack and information on how to keep physically fit while deployed.
So far the Air Force’s stress reduction kit has been a huge success with personnel being deployed from the base. Many officers have been seen inspecting their kits while waiting to board their transportation, allowing them to be diverted from the stress that is usually associated with leaving home. If it works that well for Air Force personnel, then other businesses may wish to investigate these kits for deployment to their own employees to promote a healthier environment.
